Non uno (!), non due (!!), non tre (!!!) ma ben QUATTRO GIORNI (!!!!) alla scoperta di uno dei territori architettonicamente, paesaggisticamente ed enogastronomicamente più ricchi d’Italia; il tutto accompagnato dal classico divertimento in stile ESN.
PROGRAMMA
GIOVEDÌ 26 SETTEMBRE
Partiremo nella notte tra mercoledì 25 e giovedì 26 alla volta di BARI, città greca, bizantina, araba e longobarda, oggi capoluogo della regione. La mattina verremo accompagnati tra le sue vie con un city tour fatto da guide professioniste mentre il pomeriggio, per chi lo vorrà [extra fee], parteciperemo ad un workshop dove impareremo a preparare le orecchiette, la tipica pasta locale**. Passeremo poi insieme la serata tra i bar del centro storico, con tutto il divertimento in stile ESN.
VENERDÌ 27 SETTEMBRE
Visiteremo OSTUNI, che con le sue case bianchissime è la perla del mar Adriatico. Dopo il city tour ci sarà un po’ di tempo libero fino al pomeriggio, quando ci sposteremo a MONOPOLI, città fondata nel V secolo a.C. e diventata un importante porto già nell’alto medioevo, dove dopo aver visitato la città andremo tutti insieme al MARE. La sera torneremo a Bari dove continueremo ad esplorare la sua vita notturna.
SABATO 28 SETTEMBRE
Lasceremo definitivamente Bari e visiteremo ALBEROBELLO, dove una guida professionista ci spiegherà tutto dei trulli, le abitazioni tradizionali che da millenni caratterizzano questo territorio. Nel pomeriggio ci sposteremo a CASTELLANA dove, con chi lo vorrà [extra fee], visiteremo il suo parco speleologico, con grotte calcaree che si srotolano nel sottosuolo per circa 3 chilometri. La sera arriveremo a MATERA dove godremo la città ed i suoi panorami illuminati dalle luci artificiali e dove pernotteremo.
DOMENICA 29 SETTEMBRE
Quando si pensa a MATERA è impossibile non pensare a Venezia: non perché si somigliano ma perché sono l’una il negativo dell’altra. Entrambe città uniche ed irripetibili, se Venezia fluttua sull’acqua, Matera è -letteralmente- scavata nella roccia; se Venezia è un’isola tra le acque della laguna, Matera è incastonata tra le montagne; se Venezia è il massimo esempio di artificiosità, con palazzi costruiti dove la natura lo rendeva impossibile, Matera è la natura addomesticata, con le sue grotte che sono diventate case.
A questo punto il Nord ci richiamerà a sé e ripartiremo alla volta di Bologna ma il ritorno sarà dolce con ancora il dolce sapore del pane in bocca.

Sun, sea, ivory white houses, ancient flavors and the scent of salt. If due to its shape Italy is often compared to a boot, ESN brings you to discover its most sensual part: the heel! Welcome to the south, welcome pioneers, welcome to the first ESN PUGLIA TRIP!!!
Not one (!), not two (!!), not three (!!!) but FOUR DAYS (!!!!) discovering one of the richest territories in Italy in architecture, landscapes, food and wine; all with the usual fun in ESN style.
SCHEDULE:
THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 26TH
We will leave on the night between Wednesday 25th and Thursday 26th, direction BARI: a Greek, Byzantine, Arab and Lombard city, now the capital of the region. In the morning we will be lead through its streets with the city tour while in the afternoon, for those who will desire it [extra fee], we will participate in a workshop where we will learn to prepare orecchiette, the typical local pasta**. Then, we will spend the evening together among the pubs of the historic center, with all the fun in ESN style.
FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 27TH
We will visit OSTUNI, which with its pure white houses is the pearl of the Adriatic Sea. After the city tour with the professional guide there will be some free time until the afternoon, when we will move to MONOPOLI, a city founded in the 5th century BC, where after visiting the city we are all going to the BEACH together. and became an important port already in the early Middle Ages. In the evening we will return to Bari where we will continue to explore its nightlife.
SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 28TH
We will permanently leave Bari and visit ALBEROBELLO, where a professional guide will explain everything about the trulli, the traditional houses that have been characterizing this territory for millennia. In the afternoon we will move to CASTELLANA where, with those who will want it [extra fee], we will visit its speleological park, with limestone caves that unroll underground for about 3 kilometres. In the evening we will arrive in MATERA where we will enjoy the city and its panoramas illuminated by artificial lights and where we will spend the night.
SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 29TH
When you think about MATERA it is impossible not to compare it to Venice: not because they are similar but because they are each other’s negative. Both unique and unrepeatable cities, if Venice floats on the water, Matera is -literally- carved into the rock; if Venice is an island in the waters of the lagoon, Matera is nestled in the mountains; if Venice is the greatest example of artificiality, with palaces built where nature made it impossible, Matera is tamed nature, with its caves that became homes.
At this point the North will be calling us back and we will set off again towards Bologna but the return will be sweet with the sweet taste of bread still in our mouths.
