Forse molti di voi ancora non lo sanno, ma Bologna custodisce un pezzo importante della collezione dei Patrimoni UNESCO: la Chiusa di Casalecchio sul Reno!

Iniziata al sorgere del XIII secolo, la Chiusa è la più antica opera idraulica d’Europa ancora in funzione, e da quasi un millennio governa il flusso d’acqua verso la città e l’intera pianura.
Nel passato ha fornito energia motrice pulita ai mulini che filavano la seta, rendendosi così protagonista di quella che fu per Bologna la prima vera rivoluzione industriale.

Some of you may still ignore that Bologna owns an important piece for the UNESCO Heritage collection: the Casalecchio di Reno Dam!

Started in the XIII century, the Dam is the most ancient hydraulic system in Europe still perfectly working, and, since almost a thousand years, it rules the water streams in Bologna and the plain below.
This way, the Dam provided clean energy to the mills working in the silk business, therefore being a prime character in a process which has been the real first industrial revolution for Bologna.
