One of the most incredible things you'll notice during our city walking tours are the tiles on the Palazzo del Podestà's columns.
These huge ancient columns are decorated with 12000 (twelve thousand!) rusticated rosettes.
What should really amaze you isn't the pure number, but the fact that these tiles are all different from each other!
These decorations represent flowers, exotic leaves, emblems and faces and, despite the long centuries they've been there on a public wall, no one has been able to find two tiles with the same motif.
